FINE ARTS

One Act

NELHS competes in NSAA's Play Production program, which entails a thirty-minute one act production staged at various venues across the state.  While this is not a requirement, Nebraska Lutheran has begun writing and staging its own plays, leading to immense student ownership of the production.

Speech

NELHS competes in NSAA's Speech program.  A cross section of the student body develops their own speeches to participate in the ten categories offered and has had a long history of representation in the state tournament.

Spring Play/Musical

NELHS spring productions may vary from year to year with musicals, plays, or children's theater performances. Performances are given to 300+ local grade school students as well as two performances for the general public. Typically, well over half of our student body has a role in the spring play!

  • Concert Choir

Concert Choir is a curricular choir made up of primarily Freshmen and Sophomores. They meet every-other day and focus on learning good foundational vocal techniques, growing into their singing voices, and preparing songs for concerts. Concert Choir sings at each of the four concerts throughout the school year, and chapel services or district music contests as opportunities arise.

  • The Knights of the Round Table

The Knights of the Round Table (KRT) is the auditioned choir at Nebraska Lutheran High School. It is a mixed choir (SATB) comprised of select sophomores, juniors, and seniors. KRT members act as ambassadors of the school as they travel to sing at association congregations throughout the year, travel to a WELS regional or national choral fest each year, and perform the National Anthem at select home games. In addition, KRT members sing at each of the four concerts during the school year, the district music competition, and are frequently selected as participants in our conference Honor Choir.

  • Concert Band

Band is designed for students of percussion, wind, and brass instruments to have the opportunity to refine their performance skills as individuals and as an ensemble. Students without instrumental experience may gain membership to the band after basic study of an instrument has been completed. Band rehearses daily and performs at each of the four concerts throughout the school year, plays the National Anthem at select home games, and provides music at other school events as able.
